Dear Grace Baptist Church Family,
If you were asked a question regarding what you are passionate about, what would it be?
For the most part, everyone is passionate about something. Being passionate about something means that you love it, you love doing it, you look forward to it, you spend time and money and effort doing it. It is a joy, not a pressure. You might even wish you could be doing it all the time. You are passionate about it!
And what are people passionate about? That list is almost as long as there are people. Not really, but it is highly individualized—and yet in most areas of passionate pursuit there are usually a large (or small) number of others who have the same passion.
For instance, many people in our culture are passionate about their favorite athletic team. Others are passionate about their hobbies, sports, hunting, fishing, etc. Some are passionate about their work. Some people are passionate about time with family. And the list could go on endlessly.
When someone is passionate about something, it is really obvious. You can tell because it is what they talk about and what they long for—it is what they love.
Are you passionate about anything? Of course you are. We all are!
As a believer we should be passionate about certain things as well. Things that are for believers only. In fact, only believers can be passionate about certain things…unbelievers can’t.
We should be passionate about loving the Lord. We should be passionate about obeying the commands of Scripture. We should be passionate about sharing Christ with others. We should be passionate about church.
Passion for these things means you love them, you are anxious to do them, you don’t neglect them.
As a believer, is it obvious to others where you passions are? Do others know what you love? Certainly there will be some things you love and love to do in this world. But are you also passionate about the things of the Lord? If so, then it will show.
I encourage you to pray for our services and for me as well. Would you take a few private moments between now and Sunday morning to pray?
I look forward to worshipping the Lord together with you In Christ,
